Cooking with our Wood
Sekelbos is the most suitable for those unaccustomed to cooking with dense firewood as it is not quite as dense and ignites more easily, although both of our woods burn well and flavours the food beautifully
Our wood can be used outside to cook on the barbeque
It has a unique barbeque flavour is hard to beat
To avoid burning the meat outside and not cooking
Inside it is important to get the correct fire going
put a generous amount of kindling sticks on the barbecue, wait until they are burning fiercely before putting news paper and two or three pieces of our fire wood onto your barbeque
Leave the wood to burn until the flames subside and the wood turn a whitish grey colour
(It may take between 30 minutes and an hour)
Then you are ready to cook
Please do not rush the process, take your time and enjoy a glass of wine
Test your food inside to ensure it is cooked before serving
There is no need to put seasonings or flavourings on your food, as the beautiful flavour of the wood permeates through whatever you are cooking
You can cook anything with this wood:
Chops
Uncooked prawns
Whole joints (better than roasting in a conventional oven)
Fish
Vegetables
Whole lobsters
Skewered meat
Sausages
Burgers
Drumsticks
Ribs
Happy eating!
